My inspiration for Weaving Prayer stems from a profound connection to the natural world and its ability to evoke a sense of unity and tranquility. The serene landscapes of Hokkaido, with their flowing rivers, gentle hills, and open fields, have always been a source of reflection and creativity for me. These natural forms, with their seamless harmony, remind me of the delicate balance that exists in life—a balance I aimed to capture in this sculpture.

Red granite, with its enduring strength and organic marbling, became the ideal medium to embody these ideas. The stone’s natural textures and tones reflect the timeless beauty of the earth, grounding the sculpture while allowing its elegant curves and open spaces to convey a sense of movement and interconnectedness.
