Forest in the Mist: Silver Enveloping Green Like a Mist
Arita ware, with a history dating back to the early 17th century, is renowned for its vibrant colors and intricate designs. This particular matcha bowl, crafted during the Showa period, exemplifies the artistry of Arita ware, with its elegant green glaze and finely detailed craftsmanship. The kintsugi restoration was done with urushi lacquer, where silver powder was used to depict a flowing river, and raden inlays were added to reflect light like shimmering water.
The result is a matcha bowl that combines the tradition of Arita ware with modern kintsugi techniques, creating a piece that transcends time. The shimmering silver and raden bring movement and light to the design, while the green glaze evokes the stillness of nature, offering a sense of harmony between stillness and flow.
