Dear Esteemed Owner,

It is with great pleasure that I present to you Wa-bijin: Japanese Beauty, an artwork that seamlessly blends the elegance of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern artistry. Created in Sapporo in August 2019, this piece celebrates the timeless beauty of vintage obi, an essential component of Japanese culture, paired with artificial flowers and traditional Japanese paper. The intricate patterns of the antique obi, passed down through generations, form a harmonious balance with the delicate chrysanthemum and smaller floral accents, evoking a youthful yet dignified energy.

To ensure the authenticity and originality of the artwork, both digital and hard copies of the letter of authenticity, signed by myself, will be provided. This documentation attests to the genuine craftsmanship and philosophical inspiration behind the piece, adding significant value and trust for collectors and enthusiasts of Japanese art.

I trust that this obi-art will bring a sense of serenity and beauty to your life, serving as a timeless reminder of Japanese cultural elegance.

  • The creation of Wa-bijin is deeply rooted in my upbringing. From a young age, I was surrounded by the traditions of Japanese culture. My mother often wore a kimono, and I grew up watching her graceful movements while learning Japanese dance. My grandmother and mother, both avid lovers of flowers, ensured our home was always adorned with floral arrangements, making flowers a natural part of my life. This seamless integration of culture and nature continues to influence my work.

Wa-bijin reflects this harmony, celebrating the innate beauty of obi fabric passed down through generations and the vibrant presence of flowers that surrounded me throughout my life.
